FIDO, the Foundation for Invested Dog Ownership, is a pilot program, created by a group of devoted shelter volunteers. The program targets at-risk dogs with various obstacles preventing their adoption, helping find them loving, forever homes.
FIDO dogs are screened for temperament and considered to be socially well-balanced with people and other dogs. Once dogs are brought into in the FIDO program, we cuddle, comfort, and work with them on basic commands...all with love, care, and compassion. Any necessary training is done using positive methods based on trust and respect.
Our goal is to find that perfect match between the dog and the adopter. We don't finalize the adoption until the adopter is 100% sure their FIDO dog is the perfect dog for them.
FIDO dogs are lovingly cared for and trained by our talented instructors. The dogs get training, exercise and cuddle time every day. They are spayed or neutered, have had rabies shots and all other immunizations including bordetella. They are bathed and groomed and fed nutritious dog food.
When a dog comes into the FIDO program, he or she gets the best possible care we can give short of adopting the dogs ourselves. We leave that detail to all of our wonderful adopters!
We are located in Spokane, Washington at the Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service, a.k.a. SCRAPS.
